Entrepreneur's illusion of control bias

This bias is also quite common, which leads us to overestimating our personal ability to influence the outcome of an event or action that is critical to the business... which in the long run negatively affects it.

For example, we tend to assume that 100% of our startup's success depends on us working very hard and doing things right.... when the numbers say that in reality a lot of the success (even with the necessary investment, equipment and resources) depends on factors beyond our control, so the answer is often is not "working harder and longer hours". but "working smarter".
