EUROPEAN TRADE MARK APPLICATION
As you know, with or without an agreement, the United Kingdom will definitively leave the European Union on 31 December 2020. One of the direct consequences in terms of industrial property is that from 1 January 2021, registered trademarks will no longer be valid in the UK. However, until this date, European trademark applications will include all 27 member countries and once registered, these trademarks will be valid until 2030.
Applying for a trade mark in the UK is somewhat expensive (around 750.00 Euros for a single class), so if you are thinking of extending your trade mark protection to a country that is currently part of the European Union, it is best to apply before the end of the year.
In addition, it is likely that the EUIPO (European Intellectual Property Office) to increase fees for next year.
I am therefore sending you this special end-of-year offer for European trade mark applications.
