INVESTOR DAY

Accelerate your business with these expert tips on Investor Day - take a look and discover this TIP!

"Invest Day is a specific event organised by a startup accelerator where investment opportunities are presented to potential investors. This is the invest day organised every month by mentorDay (see+). Unlike the "Demo Day (see+ TIP), where entrepreneurs present their projects to a wider audience, the "Invest Day" is a more focused and select event, where investors interested in investing in specific projects are invited. At an Invest Day, selected startups present their projects to investors interested in investing in early-stage growth companies.

The accelerator prepares presentations and materials on each startup, so that investors can review and evaluate investment opportunities prior to the event. During the Invest Day, entrepreneurs present their projects to the investors and answer questions in a format of Pitch (+). The aim of the Invest Day is to facilitate the investment process for investors and to provide entrepreneurs with an opportunity to present their projects to potential investors. Investors can identify promising investment opportunities and establish relationships with the entrepreneurs behind the projects.

In short, the "Invest Day" is an event organised by a startup accelerator to present investment opportunities to potential investors interested in specific projects. It is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to present their projects to investors and for investors to identify new investment opportunities.

ADVICE

Advice for entrepreneurs on how to get investors at an invest day

Here are some practical tips for an entrepreneur to participate in an "Invest Day" and get funding:

  1. Prepare a solid presentation: It is essential that you prepare a presentation that is attractive and that shows your project in a clear and concise way. You should include information about the team, the market, the business model and the growth strategy. The presentation should be clear and easy for anyone to understand, even if they have no technical or specialised knowledge.
    1. Investor deck (see+ TIP).
    2. Pitch to investors (see+ TIP).
  2. Know your audience: research the investors who will be attending the event so that you can tailor your presentation and highlight the aspects of your project that are most relevant to them. Consider the investor's investment history, interests and experience.
  3. Practice your presentation: practice your presentation as many times as possible. This will help you feel more comfortable and confident in presenting your project, which in turn will allow you to better convey your ideas.
  4. Show your passion: investors are looking for entrepreneurs who are passionate and committed to their projects. Show them how passionate you are about your project and how motivated you are to see it through.
  5. Be prepared to answer questions: Investors are likely to have additional questions after your presentation. Be prepared to answer questions about your project, the industry, the market and your team. How you handle these questions can be a deciding factor in whether investors decide to invest in your project.
  6. Follow up with interested investors: If any investors show interest in your project, be sure to follow up with them after the event. Ask them for their business card and ask them questions about the follow-up they plan to do after the event. Then be sure to follow up with them to keep them informed about the progress of your project.

By following these tips, an entrepreneur can adequately prepare for an Invest Day and have a better chance of securing funding.

Tips for investors wishing to participate in an invest day to find good investment opportunities

Here are some tips for investors who want to participate in an Invest Day to find good investment opportunities:

  1. Research the startups that will participate: Before the event, research the startups that will be participating and make a list of the ones you find most interesting. Research their business model, team, competition and any other relevant factors. This will help you prepare for the event and make sure you focus on the startups that might be right for you.
  2. Establish your investment criteria: Before the event, establish your investment criteria: What are you looking for in a startup, what factors are important to you, such as team experience, product traction or market opportunity? Having these criteria clear will help you make more informed decisions and not waste your time on opportunities that don't meet your criteria - check your BUSINESS ANGEL plan!!!
  3. Ask clear and specific questions: During the event, make sure to ask clear and specific questions to the startup founders. Try to get detailed information about their business model, team, competition, growth plans and any other factors you consider important.
  4. Meet other investors: Invest Day events are a great opportunity to meet other investors. Try to meet other investors who share your interests and make contacts that could be valuable to you in the future. Interesting to spot some lead investor (+) that you can take advantage of.
  5. Follow up with startups that interest you: After the event, follow up with the startups you are interested in. Ask them additional questions, request additional information if needed, and schedule meetings with them to dig deeper into their business models and team.
  6. Keep an open mind: Don't limit yourself to startups that appear to be perfect on paper. Keep an open mind and consider opportunities that may be less obvious at first glance. You might find a great investment opportunity in a startup that doesn't meet all your criteria, but has a great team and a compelling vision.

By following these tips, investors can adequately prepare for an Invest Day and have a better chance of finding good investment opportunities. An Investor Day and an Investment Forum (see+) are events that aim to connect entrepreneurs with investors.

However, there are some differences between the two events:

  1. Format: An Investor Day is a more private and exclusive event, where entrepreneurs present their projects to a select group of investors. On the other hand, an Investment Forum is a more public event, where entrepreneurs can present their projects to a wider audience.
  2. Duration: Investor Days usually last a full day or even several days, where entrepreneurs have the opportunity to interact with investors in different formats, such as presentations, one-on-one meetings, etc. In contrast, Investment Forums usually last a few hours or a full day.
  3. Objective: Investor Days tend to be events that are more focused on seeking specific investment for entrepreneurs' projects. On the other hand, Investment Forums can have a broader objective, such as networking and the generation of business opportunities.
  4. Participants: Investor Days are usually aimed at entrepreneurs at more advanced stages of development of their project and who are looking for investment to take it to the next level. Investment Forums, on the other hand, can be aimed at entrepreneurs at different stages of development of their project, from idea to consolidation.

In a nutshell, Both options are valid and can be useful for entrepreneurs seeking investment, depending on their specific needs and objectives.
