Conflict Resolution

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Many entrepreneurs encounter all kinds of problems when they start their business, which is why conflict resolution is so important. Most of them get stressed because they want to solve all the problems at once.

Let's see how problems arise, I'm going to use the game of dominoes. Have you ever seen a small domino knock over a bigger one? Well, imagine we start with one that is 10 cm high and the next one is 40% bigger, and the next one keeps growing a 40% and so on. Do you know how many dominoes grow to be 2 meters high? Only in 10 steps!!!

This is also the case with problems in your company. Problems start with an idea or a detail that is the cause that can grow in a few steps to have large and costly effects.

What happens when people or entrepreneurs have problems? In today's system it is usually a matter of looking for the culprits.

We look for culprits in order to... well, minimally take the responsibility away from oneself. Why do you do this, you ask yourself! So if something doesn't go your way or something happens to you that you don't like, what emotion do you feel?

In general: Surprise, disappointment, anger, rage etc... and to justify those emotions our mind generates reasons for us to justify those feelings.

But we forget that before we feel something, we have built up hopes, expectations and other fantasies in our brain, and when the reality is not as we have imagined, the game I mentioned above begins.

To give you some examples from business life:

  • The crisis is to blame for the fact that I do not sell so many products
  • I have little time, and time is the culprit that I can't finish all the work.
  • The commercials are to blame because they do not sell what I have asked for or need.
  • I don't get customers; the culprit is marketing or Potential customers don't know that my products are the best on the market! So they are ignorant.

I can go on forever naming my clients' excuses, but they are excuses and lies. These entrepreneurs are pointing the finger outward in search of culprits.

Remembering these situations makes me think of my 5 year old son, when he wanted a dummy, and I wouldn't give it to him, so he would get angry, cry and jump up and down because he didn't get what he wanted, and of course, I was to blame for his bad mood! I think entrepreneurs have all got little boys in them, don't they? Or haven't you ever got angry when something happens that you don't like?

But how do I do it? What's the trick to stay out of those states, you ask now!

Understand me well and before I go on, for me, problems or conflicts are the same! They are just states or situations I am in, that I want or need to change, nothing more!

In my world, everything that happens to us is for the betterment of something in our lives.

There are people who say no, but there, the 5 year old child speaks... not the adult!

Let's see if I am right in my way of seeing things.

What happens when I have a problem - what is my reaction if I have a problem, and that problem bothers me or is important! I look for solutions, don't I?

I am looking for solutions so that this situation, which I don't like, changes to one that I do like, or it is more beneficial, isn't it?

So, if that is the case, our problems help us to recognise things or situations that we should improve, otherwise they will be repeated in our lives.

If you feel a tantrum, it's because the child inside you is just telling you that the situation is not as he expected it to be. And he needs time to accept the reality. When he has accepted the reality we can move on and start looking for solutions.

The state to make the best decisions is when you are in a good mood, calm and stress-free. Only then are we productive, do you follow me?

But how can you be calm if you have a problem? you ask again! The solution is simple: it's a matter of perspective, if you change the perspective it changes everything!

If the problems are just a warning that something needs to be improved, then they are positive, right?

I have to be aware that these warnings are for improvement and treat them as such. And what do you say when someone helps you?

¡¡THANK YOU!!

When someone helps you, you say thank you! That word is the first one that should come out when you enter a situation that calls for change (problem, conflict and other synonyms).

Treat your problems as if they were a gift, because they are, because they are learning moments, something that helps you to improve yourself as an entrepreneur!

My mission is to train you how you can skip the step of tantrums and anger. Because tantrums only cost energy, time and money, but they don't solve anything.
