When we talk about early adopters in English, we refer to those first customers to buy our product or service. The early adopters are the consumers to whom our value proposition provides you with a solution to a problemeven if our solution is not quite perfect. They may even be able to help us with knowledge and feedback to improve the proposal.

Importance of Early Adopters

Early adopters are the backers for your company that will allow you to develop your product and how to make it massive.. These are the first customers who validate your product in the market. You have to take advantage of these first customers to get their feedback, their tips can help you improve your proposal and increase your product.

The American sociologisto Everett Rogers has a chart showing how the market is divided.

The characteristics of Early Adopters are:

  1. They have the problem or need you are trying to solve with your product or service and, moreover, they are aware of the problem they have.
  2. They have tried to solve on their own and have had no results, they have found no other solutions.
  3. They buy solutions "without reference". The aim of the project is to promote the use of the market and even to buy products or services that are not finished by serving as a source of advice and recommendations.

Therefore, Early Adopters are very important for entrepreneurs working with a high level of uncertainty as it allows them to understand the behaviour of the customers they are targeting and learn from it in order to scale to other behaviours.

THE KEYS OF AN EARLY ADOPTER:

  • These are customers who want a solution to a need, looking for products that help them.
  • Early adopters are customers who are already using other products to solve your need but they are still dissatisfied.
  • They are not influenced by others to buy. They are in the market for products that will help them solve their need.
  • If they like your product they are likely to publish about your product and promote it among your acquaintances.
  • They are sincere in giving you feedback about your product.
STRATEGIES WITH EARLY ADOPTERS

If you want to turn them into brand ambassadors, you will have to propose a personal meeting where you make an offer. If you want to social media if you don't get results you can do it in person at events, meetings, etc. Any form is valid.

Strategies can be of many types:
  • Blog postif your early adopter is a blogger may write a post about your specific product or a related post that mentions or reviews your product.
  • Social media: or if it is influencer on certain social networks, you can create a social media plan where you agree on the times and places where he/she will talk about your brand: Instagram Stories, video on YouTube, review in Facebook, etc. The options are endless!
  • Attending an event: If what you want to do is an inauguration in a venue, you can invite him as a brand ambassador. He/she will be there for a while, talk to the attendees, give interviews, etc.
