Scrum methodology to create new companies

Scrum is an agile methodology that is used to manage software projects and can also be applied in the context of start-ups. This methodology focuses on early and frequent delivery of product increments, which allows entrepreneurs to quickly validate whether they are on the right track to create a successful product or service. The Scrum methodology is based on the creation of highly collaborative and autonomous teams, known as Scrum teams, that work together to achieve project goals. These teams consist of a Product Owner, a Scrum Master and the development team.

The Product Owner is responsible for defining the product and ensuring that the development team is building something that meets customer needs. The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring that the Scrum Team follows Scrum practices and principles, and helps the team resolve any impediments that arise during the process. Finally, the development team is the group of people who work together to build the product or service. The Scrum methodology is divided into work cycles known as "sprints", which usually last between two and four weeks. Each sprint begins with a planning meeting in which the development team decides which tasks will be completed during that sprint. The development team then works on these tasks during the sprint and holds daily meetings to review progress and resolve any impediments. At the end of each sprint, the development team presents the results of the sprint in a sprint review, which showcases the work completed and receives feedback from customers and other stakeholders. There is also a sprint retrospective, in which the development team reflects on the sprint and looks for ways to improve in the next sprint.

The Scrum methodology has several advantages for entrepreneurs looking to create a new company. These include:

  • Early and frequent delivery of product increments, allowing you to quickly validate whether you are on the right track.
  • It fosters collaboration and teamwork, which can enhance creativity and innovation.
  • It enables rapid adaptation to changing market and customer needs.
  • It provides a structured approach to project management, which can help entrepreneurs stay organised and focused on project objectives.
  • Encourages transparency and open communication within the team and with external stakeholders.

The Scrum system is a group of good practices to work in a much more collaborative way, this methodology has been developed thanks to the study of a number of highly productive working groups. The basis of the system is a schedule of regular and partial deliveries of the final project, This is particularly useful when we are talking about carrying out a complex project that requires a series of short-term deliverables and whose requirements may change over the course of days.

To follow this process, it is necessary that all members of the working team have the capacity to innovate, competitiveness, a high productivity and flexibility. When this process is carried out, it is important to have short cycles and of a fixed duration, the average for this type of deadlines is usually around two weeks. Each of the cycles must have an outcome that advances the overall project as a whole. The contact with the customer is constant, given that at the end of each work cycle receives information on the status of the project. This makes it possible to obtain a feedback (+) which helps adapt or modify in the remaining time left in the project, the new needs that may have arisen for the client.
