Breaking Language Barriers: mentorDay connects you internationally with the New Zoom Simultaneous Translation Technology.
Hello everyone! We have exciting news for you all!for sharing. Imagine being able to receive advice from mentors from all over the world, participate in global networking events or collaborate with international entrepreneurs, all without language barriers. Now it is possible! mentorDay has incorporated innovative Zoom technology that allows you to do all this and more, thanks to real-time simultaneous translation.
This feature brings us one step closer to the vision of the Tower of Babel 2.0, where language barriers are no longer an obstacle to connecting, sharing and collaborating together. With this new Zoom technology, we have the ability to break down linguistic boundaries and have fluent conversations in different languages, all thanks to real-time subtitles - it's truly amazing!
What languages does the technology already detect?
Arabic (Beta), Chinese (Simplified) (Beta), Chinese (Traditional) (Beta), Czech (Beta), Dutch, English, Estonian (Beta), Finnish (Beta), French, French (Canada)(Beta), German, Hungarian (Beta), Hindi (Beta), Indonesian (Beta), Italian, Japanese (Beta), Korean (Beta), Malay (Beta), Polish (Beta), Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish (Beta), Tagalog (Beta), Telugu (Beta), Turkish (Beta), Ukrainian, Vietnamese.
How does it work?
Activating this function is surprisingly simple.
JUST FOLLOW THESE FOUR SIMPLE STEPS DURING YOUR NEXT ZOOM VIDEO CALL:
- Step 1: First of all, during your Zoom meeting, look for the up arrow on the "CC" option which stands for "Subtitles". This is the magic key that will open the door to instant translation.
- Step 2: Now select "Spoken language". To indicate in which language you are going to speak. This will allow the technology to correctly detect your communications and translate them for the rest of the participants in the meeting. It's as if you were giving your voice a superpower.
- Step 3: Next, select "Translate To". Here you can choose the language in which you would like to receive the translations. This way you will be able to understand the other participants by reading the subtitles.
- Step 4: Last but not least, select the option "View full transcript". This will allow you to follow the conversation without any problems. It is important to select this option to be able to read the entire conversation held during the meeting. There are times when Artificial Intelligence makes corrections to certain words that it has translated moments before and this may change the context of the sentence; this option allows you to reread what has just been corrected without losing the thread of the conversation.
TIPS FOR MAINTAINING A POSITIVE DYNAMIC IN THE MEETING:
- It is very important to speak slowly and try to vocalise well so that the translation is of good quality.
- Try not to use idioms or country-specific jargon.
- If a participant does not have good internet coverage, it is likely that the AI will have difficulty capturing all the words that the participant says and therefore the translation will not be complete. It is advisable to turn off the camera if a participant has coverage problems.
- It is important that participants in the session speak one at a time so as not to create confusion for the AI and to ensure quality translations. We recommend using the "Show of hands" option to give participants a turn and to follow an order during the session.
- We recommend directing questions to specific participants rather than asking open questions. When the speaker asks open questions to the rest of the participants, the participants who speak another language will receive their question a few seconds later and if no order of response is marked, it is more likely that the participants who speak the same language as the speaker will be the ones to answer the question as they will be receiving the information in real time.
