TYPES OF MODELS:
Per individual user (Per Seat)
- A fee is charged for fixed price in the use of licences (usually software) per individual user.
- e.g. Sencha
Per device/server
- In this model the company charges for each device or server (sometimes even for aspects such as CPUs that the server has) a fixed price.
- e.g. QlikView.
By implementing body
- Another form of licensing software, in which is charged by the number of concurrent instances launched.
- e.g. Adobe Photoshop.
By site
- They are licensing models that its use is restricted to one sitewhich is usually equated with a company, although sometimes it can also be.
- e.g. Microsoft Licensing.
Per patent
- These are companies that charge royalties or similar to third parties for the use of technologies that they have patented.
- e.g. Qualcomm, Nokia.
By brand
- The owner of a recognised brand charges money for the use of his brand and associated elements (characters, logos, etc.) to be used by third parties, usually for merchandising.
- e.g. Sesame Street.
Indirect licensing
- The company that owns the item (typically software) issues licences to its clientwhich in turn indirectly redistributes licences to the end customer.
- e.g. Apple Volume Purchasing.
